NCL Actively Participates in “Swachhata Hi Seva” Campaign

Under the guidance of the Ministry of Coal, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a subsidiary of Coal India based in Singrauli, is actively participating in the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign from September 17 to October 2, 2025. This initiative aims to promote cleanliness and hygiene through a variety of activities designed to engage the community. NCL is focusing on raising awareness and encouraging public participation in cleanliness efforts across multiple regions.
Comprehensive Cleanliness Initiatives
NCL has organized a diverse range of activities as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. These include cleanliness awareness drives, cleaning public spaces, and beautifying eco-tourism and religious sites. The campaign also features the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, which promotes tree planting, and the “Thank You Safai Mitra” program to honor sanitation workers. Additional activities include the Clean and Green Festival, Swachhata Pathshala, and Swachhata Samvad, along with creative competitions such as rangoli, essay writing, painting, and slogan writing. These initiatives aim to foster a culture of cleanliness and environmental responsibility within the community.
Community Engagement and Outreach
Recently, the Jayant Area of NCL hosted a Community Outreach and Swachhata Sanvaad program to enhance awareness about cleanliness and hygiene. During this event, 1,000 saplings were distributed under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, emphasizing the importance of environmental sustainability. The Jayant Area also organized a painting competition where school students expressed their messages about cleanliness through art. Additionally, a Swachhata Rally was conducted, allowing students to educate local residents on the significance of maintaining hygiene. Other areas, such as Jhingurda and Block-B, also participated by conducting health check-ups for sanitation workers through the Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir.
Educational Initiatives and Pledges
In a bid to further promote cleanliness, NCL’s Dudhichua Area organized a Swachhata Pledge event at DAV School, where over 1,500 students collectively committed to uphold cleanliness standards. The initiative also included the installation of a Swachhta Selfie stand at NCL, encouraging individuals to share their commitment to cleanliness on social media. Furthermore, creative competitions themed around ‘Swachhotsav’ were held in the Amlohri, Block-B, and Dudhichua Areas, where students showcased their creativity to highlight the importance of clean and green festivals.
Collaborative Cleanliness Drives
NCL also took part in the “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” special cleanliness drive, which brought together NCL employees and local communities for a day of voluntary service. This initiative aimed to foster a sense of community and collective responsibility towards creating a cleaner and healthier environment. Through these various efforts, NCL is not only promoting cleanliness but also encouraging active participation from the community, reinforcing the importance of hygiene and environmental stewardship.
