National School Band Competition Finals Set for January 2026
The excitement is building as the National School Band Competition gears up for its grand finale on January 24, 2026, at the National Bal Bhavan in New Delhi. This event, part of the Republic Day Celebrations, has successfully narrowed down the field to 16 exceptional school bands from across the country, representing the East, West, North, and South zones.
Four teams from each zone in various categories—Brass Band Boys, Brass Band Girls, Pipe Band Boys, and Pipe Band Girls—will showcase their talents in a spirited display aimed at fostering patriotism and unity among students. The finalists were selected following a robust series of competitions at the state and zonal levels, reflecting a significant increase in participation compared to last year.

A Rewarding Competition
The competition will reward the top three teams in each category with cash prizes—Rs 51,000 for first place, Rs 31,000 for second, and Rs 21,000 for third—along with trophies and certificates. In addition, a consolation prize of Rs 11,000 will be awarded to every other finalist. A jury appointed by the Ministry of Defence, consisting of members from all branches of the Armed Forces, will judge the performances, ensuring that the competition upholds a standard of excellence.
Jointly organized by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education, this competition began with an impressive 763 school band teams participating at the state level. From there, 94 teams advanced to the zonal competition, with 80 teams ultimately competing from 30 States and Union Territories, showcasing the enthusiasm and talent of schoolchildren across India.
The anticipation for the grand finale continues to grow as these young musicians prepare to display their hard work, dedication, and team spirit in celebration of their national pride.
