In their chase, CSK opted for a surprising change at the top of the order, giving Shaik Rasheed his IPL debut in place of Devon Conway. Teaming up with Rachin Ravindra, Rasheed made an immediate impact, scoring 27 runs off 19 balls, including impressive shots like a classy flick and a strong pull. Ravindra also looked promising, contributing 37 runs off 22 deliveries as they reached 50 runs in just 4.2 overs.
However, LSG fought back through their spin attack. Ravi Bishnoi and Aiden Markram quickly dismissed Rachin and Tripathi, while Jadeja fell shortly after. Vijay Shankar’s dismissal left CSK at 111/5, needing 56 runs from the last 30 balls.
Dhoni, promoted in the batting order, initially took his time but soon began to accelerate. He hit a couple of boundaries in the 16th over, followed by a trademark one-handed six in the 17th, energizing the crowd and his teammates.
Decisive Finish by Dhoni and Dube
With the pressure mounting, Dube stepped up in the 19th over, scoring 19 runs off Shardul Thakur, including a boundary and a six off a full toss. This remarkable over reduced CSK’s target to just four runs off the final six balls. Dhoni fittingly remained at the crease until the end, guiding CSK to victory with one over to spare. Dube finished the match with an impressive 43 runs off 37 balls, while Dhoni’s explosive 26 runs off just 11 balls proved crucial in sealing the win.
