MoU Signed for Establishment of Three New Dr. Ambedkar Chairs
Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, has taken a significant step towards promoting the legacy of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar by establishing three new Dr. Ambedkar Chairs at Mumbai University, Jaipur National University, and GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony took place on October 15, 2025, at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The event was attended by key officials, including the Hon’ble Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, who emphasized the importance of education and research in fostering an inclusive society.
Significance of the New Chairs
The establishment of the three new Dr. Ambedkar Chairs marks a notable expansion of the initiative aimed at promoting Dr. Ambedkar’s vision and ideology. With these additions, the total number of operational Chairs under the scheme has risen to twenty-eight. The Hon’ble Minister highlighted that these Chairs will play a crucial role in advancing policy-oriented research and enhancing public awareness on matters related to social justice, equality, and the empowerment of marginalized communities. He expressed optimism that the academic discourse generated through these Chairs would align with Dr. Ambedkar’s constitutional values and contribute to building a more equitable society.
