MoSPI Hosts Second Workshop on GDP, CPI, and IIP Revisions

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is set to hold the Second Pre-release Consultative Workshop on December 23, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. This workshop follows the inaugural event conducted on November 26, 2026, in Mumbai and will focus on the vital revisions to key economic indicators such as the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Consumer Price Index (CPI), and Index of Industrial Production (IIP).

The main goal of this workshop is to present and discuss proposed methodological and structural changes related to the ongoing revisions of GDP, CPI, and IIP. This event aims to gather valuable feedback and insights from a diverse range of stakeholders.

Engaging a Diverse Audience

Bringing together an array of participants, the workshop will feature renowned economists, experts from various financial institutions, specialists in statistics, users of essential economic data, and senior officials from both Central and State Governments. The collaboration of this multifaceted group is expected to greatly enrich discussions and help participants better understand the revisions in the upcoming statistical series.

Distinguished Speakers and Agenda

The inaugural session will showcase prominent dignitaries, including Shri Suman K Bery, Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, who will serve as the chief guest. Other notable speakers include Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran, Chief Economic Advisor, Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary of MoSPI, and Shri N. K. Santoshi, Director General of Central Statistics at MoSPI.

Following the opening ceremony, participants will engage in a series of technical sessions focused on GDP, CPI, and IIP, supplemented by open house discussions. Attendees will also receive a booklet outlining the proposed changes in the base revision of these economic indicators, further promoting transparency and informed dialogue.

This workshop reflects MoSPI’s commitment to strengthen transparency in economic statistics and to foster a broad-based consultation ahead of the release of the revised series for GDP, CPI, and IIP.
