MoS Rajeev Chandrasekhar to Interact with Young Indians in Bengaluru on Digital Personal Data Protection Bill Tomorrow

Union Minister of State for Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, is set to engage with Indian youth in Bangalore tomorrow. This interaction will focus on the recently passed Digital Personal Data Protection Act.

The event, dubbed “Sansad Dhvani”, is a citizen engagement initiative led by Shri Tejasvi Surya, Member of Parliament of South Bengaluru and National Chairman of The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. It will take place at the BMSCE Auditorium, Basavanagudi.

This engagement will delve into the intricate details of the bill and its provisions, which has been approved by both houses of parliament. Drawing on his roles as an MP, petitioner and former tech entrepreneur, MoS Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar will highlight the government’s efforts to ensure accountability among data trustees in India. He will also elaborate on the evolution since 2017 of the construction of a political framework that gives priority to consent in the processing of digital citizens’ data. This effort has laid a solid foundation for the nation’s digital privacy landscape.

The Digital Personal Data Protection Bill represents a significant milestone in India’s journey towards building a framework that ensures a safe and trusted online environment for all ‘digital Nagriks’.

In this interactive session, MoS Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar will outline Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, to use technology to improve the lives of Indian citizens, especially the youth, by safeguarding their digital experiences from exploitation by big data trustees. This step is in stark contrast to the previous government, when data protection was relegated to the background, allowing major organizations to amass vast databases without oversight or accountability.
