Modi to Strengthen Ties with Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman in December

In a significant diplomatic journey, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is set to visit the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from December 15 to 16, 2025. At the invitation of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, the Prime Minister will engage in discussions aimed at reviewing and enhancing the ties between India and Jordan. This visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, emphasizing opportunities for collaboration and a commitment to regional peace and stability.

Forging Stronger India-Jordan Relations

During his time in Jordan, Prime Minister Modi will meet with King Abdullah II to discuss a broad spectrum of issues affecting their bilateral relationship. Both leaders aim to explore new pathways for mutual growth that will enhance bilateral engagement and ultimately promote peace and prosperity in the region. The anniversary marks a historic occasion that underscores the longstanding friendship and cooperation between India and Jordan.

Prime Minister’s First Visit to Ethiopia

Following his stay in Jordan, from December 16 to 17, 2025, Prime Minister Modi will embark on his first official visit to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia at the invitation of Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali. This visit is expected to deepen the bilateral ties between India and Ethiopia, showcasing their shared commitment as partners in the Global South. Modi and Dr. Abiy Ahmed will hold extensive discussions focused on all facets of their countries’ relations, highlighting the importance of friendship and cooperation.

Strengthening Bonds with Oman

The final leg of Modi’s trip will take him to the Sultanate of Oman from December 17 to 18, 2025, following an invitation from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. This marks Modi’s second visit to Oman, a country with which India shares an all-encompassing Strategic Partnership rooted in centuries of friendship, trade, and cultural exchange. This visit commemorates 70 years of diplomatic relations and will follow the Sultan’s recent State visit to India in December 2023.

During discussions in Oman, both leaders will review the breadth of their bilateral partnership, which includes critical areas such as trade, investment, energy, defense, and technology. Additionally, they will exchange views on various regional and global challenges of mutual interest.

Prime Minister Modi’s upcoming visits to Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman highlight India’s commitment to fostering robust international relationships and contributing to regional stability and growth.
