Ministry of Tourism Boosts Hindi in Official Work

The Hindi Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Tourism convened today at The Ashok Hotel in New Delhi, led by Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the Union Minister for Culture and Tourism. The meeting’s primary objective was to evaluate the application of Rajbhasha Hindi in the Ministry’s official communications and to discuss strategies for enhancing its integration.

This important gathering saw participation from committee members representing various regions of the country, along with notable officials such as Shri Suman Billa, Additional Secretary and Director General of Tourism, and Shri Gyan Bhushan, Senior Economic Adviser. Smt. Mugdha Sinha, Managing Director of the India Tourism Development Corporation, was also present, alongside other senior officials from the Ministry.

The meeting began with an introductory address by the Union Minister, who welcomed the attendees. Subsequently, non-official committee members from different states, including Dr. Shravan Kumar, Dr. Anurag Anand, Dr. Sushma Singh, Shri Sista Madhusudan Rao, and Shri Umesh Singh, expressed their optimism regarding the current use of Hindi in the Ministry’s operations. They offered valuable insights on promoting the use of Hindi further in official matters.

In his remarks, Union Minister Shekhawat emphasized the need for Hindi to occupy its rightful position while also recognizing and respecting the multitude of languages spoken across India. He stated that Hindi serves as a unifying force, connecting individuals from diverse backgrounds. The Minister called for efforts to nurture dialogue among different languages and cultures, allowing for a harmonious coexistence.

Moreover, Shri Shekhawat highlighted the Ministry’s ‘Incredible India’ platform, underlining that it is available in Hindi and encouraging its practical usage in daily conversations. He urged the need to make Hindi easily accessible and commonplace in everyday communication.

During the meeting, the Union Minister unveiled a new dictionary titled **‘Rajbhasha Shabd Sangam,’** which was developed under the supervision of Smt. Mugdha Sinha. This initiative aims to enhance vocabulary and promote the use of Hindi within official settings.
