Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced Microsoft Viva. It is a unique employee experience platform that is aimed to bring engagement, learning, wellbeing, knowledge, and discovery into the workflow. It works within Microsoft Teams. The CEO said that Microsoft had been part of the world largest at scale remote working experiment during the last 12 months. While we will see some people choose to return to our offices in the future, it was clear that we were now in a new era of flexible digital working.

Microsoft Viva will have four modules and likely to expand with the time. These modules offer tools to business, employee, and partners to explore the way improve experience.

Viva Connections

Viva Connections provides a gateway to the digital workspace. It will help the employee to access the internal communication and company resources like policies and benefits and participate in communities. It will be available from single customizable app in Microsoft Teams. The app will be available on desktop in public preview the first half of 2021 with a mobile app coming later this year.

Viva Insights

Viva Insights is another module. It provides insights to help everyone in an organization to do well. These insights and experiences are shown only to the employee. This feature is expected to help the users to take regular breaks, focussed work, learning, and embark on activities for well-being, and strengthening the relationship with fellow colleagues. It is also designed to offer trends at the team and organizational level to the management. At the same time, it will also offer recommendations for balance productivity and wellbeing. In addition, a new dashboard allows organizations to combine employee feedback from LinkedIn’s Glint with collaboration data from Viva insights, enabling leaders to more accurately identify where teams may be struggling, proactively adjust work norms, and then quantify the impact of those changes over time. The Viva Insights app in Teams and the new Glint and Viva Insights dashboard are now available in public preview.

Viva Learning

Sharpening the saw is an important element in the growth and development of an employee. Viva Learning makes training and development opportunities more discoverable and accessible in the flow of work. It also aggregates all learning resources available to an organization in one place including courses from LinkedIn Learning and another learning site like Skillsoft, Coursera, EdX. From traditional learning courses to microlearning content, users can discover, share, assign and track a wide variety of learning as a natural part of the workday. The Viva Learning app is now available in private preview and starting later this year Viva Learning will offer integrations with leading learning management systems.

Viva Topics

Viva Topics delivers a knowledge discovery experience that helps people connect to information and experts across the company.  Using AI to reason over a customer’s Microsoft 365 data, and with the ability to integrate knowledge from a variety of third-party services such as ServiceNow and Salesforce, Viva Topics automatically surfaces topic cards within conversations and documents across Microsoft 365 and Teams. Clicking on a card opens a topic page with related documents, conversations, videos, and people. Viva Topics is now generally available as an add-on to Microsoft 365 commercial plans.
