MHA Conducts Special Campaign to Promote Swachhata and Reduce Government Pendency
Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s vision for a cleaner India, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has launched a Special Campaign aimed at reducing pending government matters. Under the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, this initiative is set to run from November 2024 to August 2025. The campaign focuses on enhancing cleanliness and efficiency within government operations, showcasing significant achievements in public service and grievance management.
Key Achievements of the Campaign
Since its inception, the MHA has made notable strides in its Special Campaign. A total of 2,405 cleanliness drives have been conducted across various locations, including field offices. These initiatives are part of a broader effort to foster a culture of cleanliness and responsibility within government departments. Additionally, the MHA has successfully addressed 493 references from Members of Parliament, two proposals from the Cabinet, 104 references from State Governments, and 30 references from the Prime Minister’s Office. This proactive approach demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to resolving pending issues efficiently.
Furthermore, the MHA has managed to dispose of 40,880 public grievances and 1,864 appeals during the campaign period. This significant volume of resolved cases reflects the Ministry’s dedication to addressing citizen concerns promptly. In addition to these achievements, the campaign has also resulted in freeing up 79,774 square feet of office space within the MHA and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), optimizing operational efficiency.
Data Management and Coordination
To ensure effective data management and accuracy, the MHA has implemented an intra-Ministry portal. This platform allows all divisions within the Ministry, as well as Union Territories and the Delhi Police, to upload relevant data related to the campaign. The use of this portal has facilitated better coordination among various offices, enabling timely access to accurate information. This streamlined approach is crucial for monitoring progress and ensuring that the campaign meets its objectives.
The MHA’s commitment to data accuracy is evident in its efforts to maintain a comprehensive overview of the campaign’s impact. By leveraging technology, the Ministry aims to enhance transparency and accountability in its operations, ultimately benefiting the public.
Focus on Sustainability and Environment
As part of the ongoing Special Campaign 5.0, the MHA is prioritizing the establishment of sustainable and environmentally friendly workplaces. This initiative aligns with broader government goals of promoting eco-conscious practices within public service. The campaign also emphasizes the importance of resolving pending references from Members of Parliament, State Governments, and other stakeholders, alongside improving record management.
The MHA’s focus on sustainability reflects a growing recognition of the need for environmentally responsible governance. By integrating these principles into its operations, the Ministry aims to set a precedent for other government entities to follow.
High-Level Monitoring and Commitment
The Special Campaign is being closely monitored at the highest levels within the Ministry. The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Central Police Organizations (CPOs) have been urged to prioritize the campaign’s objectives. Their readiness to go the extra mile underscores the importance of this initiative in achieving the identified goals.
The MHA’s proactive stance in addressing pending matters and promoting cleanliness demonstrates a commitment to enhancing public service. As the campaign progresses, it is expected to yield further improvements in government efficiency and citizen satisfaction.
