Meta Set to Lead Adoption of FADU’s PCIe 6.0 SSDs with New Controller Supply Contracts

South Korea’s FADU has made significant strides in the tech industry by securing supply agreements for its next-generation SSD controllers with two of the world’s leading cloud service providers. During a press conference celebrating the company’s 10th anniversary, CEO Lee Ji-hyo announced that they are also in discussions with a third hyperscaler, aiming to finalize that deal by the end of the year. FADU’s innovative technology is set to play a crucial role in meeting the growing demands of the cloud computing market.
Strategic Partnerships with Hyperscalers
FADU has confirmed its contracts with two of the four major global hyperscalers, although the specific companies have not been disclosed. Industry speculation suggests that Meta could be one of the partners, especially after its prominent appearance with FADU at the Future of Memory and Storage 2025 conference. CEO Lee expressed confidence in expanding their partnerships, stating that they expect to supply all four major companies within the next two to three years. This ambitious goal highlights FADU’s commitment to becoming a key player in the SSD market.
Innovative Technology: The Sierra Controller
At the recent conference, FADU introduced its latest PCIe 6.0 controller, codenamed Sierra. This cutting-edge technology boasts impressive specifications, including support for capacities up to 512TB and sequential speeds of 28GB/s. The Sierra controller is designed to deliver exceptional performance, achieving random read speeds of 6.9 million IOPS while consuming only 9 watts of power. These advancements are particularly relevant as data centers increasingly seek energy-efficient solutions to manage their growing workloads.
Long-Term Vision and Future Developments
During the keynote address, CEO Lee Ji-hyo emphasized FADU’s long-term vision for the storage market. Since its inception in 2015, the company has focused on developing the fastest and most innovative SSD controllers to cater to the global market. Lee stated that FADU aims to lead the storage sector by providing SSDs that offer greater capacity, faster performance, and higher efficiency, particularly in the context of the AI era. Following the successful shipment of its Gen5 controller in late 2024, FADU is set to launch its Gen6 line in 2026, further solidifying its position in the industry.
Commitment to Innovation and Efficiency
FADU’s dedication to technological advancement is evident in its collaborations with industry partners to enhance energy monitoring features. These innovations are designed to reduce operational costs in large-scale data centers, addressing a critical need in the cloud computing landscape. As the demand for storage solutions continues to rise, FADU’s focus on efficiency and performance positions it well to meet the challenges of the future. The company’s ongoing efforts to innovate and expand its market presence reflect its commitment to shaping the future of data storage technology.
