MediaTek Unveils Dimensity 7450 Series for Mid-Range Flip Phones
MediaTek has unveiled its latest additions to the mid-range chipset market with the introduction of the Dimensity 7450 and Dimensity 7450X. These new chipsets are designed to enhance connectivity, AI performance, and gaming experiences. While both models share many features, they cater to different device categories: the Dimensity 7450 targets standard mid-range smartphones, whereas the 7450X is specifically aimed at mid-range flip phones.
Dimensity 7450 and 7450X Features and Specifications
The Dimensity 7450 and 7450X chipsets are built on an advanced 4nm manufacturing process. Each chipset boasts an octa-core CPU configuration, which includes four Cortex-A78 performance cores that can reach speeds of up to 2.6GHz, alongside four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. For graphics processing, both models utilize the Mali-G615 MC2 GPU, while AI functionalities are powered by MediaTek’s sixth-generation Neural Processing Unit (NPU), which reportedly delivers a 7% performance improvement compared to earlier versions.
In terms of gaming capabilities, MediaTek has integrated its HyperEngine technology, featuring Adaptive Gaming 3.0. This technology is designed to optimize performance and power efficiency during gaming sessions. On the camera front, the chipsets support impressive specifications, including compatibility with sensors up to 200MP, 4K HDR video recording, and advanced imaging features such as noise reduction and AI enhancements.
Connectivity options have also seen upgrades, with support for Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and 5G technology, allowing for peak download speeds of up to 3.27Gbps. Additionally, both chipsets support LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, along with display capabilities of up to WFHD+ at 120Hz or Full HD+ at 144Hz. A key distinction of the Dimensity 7450X is its dual-display support, specifically designed for foldable smartphones, facilitating seamless transitions between internal and external screens.
MediaTek Dimensity 7450 Series: Availability
While MediaTek has yet to announce specific devices that will feature these new chipsets, both the Dimensity 7450 and 7450X are already listed on the company’s official website. This suggests that smartphones powered by these chipsets could be launched in the near future. The Dimensity 7450 is anticipated to appear in mid-premium smartphones, while the 7450X is expected to debut in upcoming foldable devices, potentially including the next generation of flip phones. As the market for mid-range devices continues to evolve, these new chipsets may play a significant role in shaping the user experience for consumers.
