MediaTek Launches Powerful Dimensity 9400+ Chip

MediaTek has officially unveiled its latest flagship mobile processor, the Dimensity 9400+, designed for Android smartphones. This new chip boasts an All Big Core architecture, featuring a core that outperforms its predecessor, the Dimensity 9400, which debuted last year. Additionally, the MediaTek NPU 890 promises a significant boost in AI performance, claiming up to 20 percent faster processing with its innovative Speculative Decoding+ technology. Oppo is set to be the first manufacturer to release smartphones powered by this advanced processor.

Availability of the Dimensity 9400+

The Dimensity 9400+ is set to make its debut this month, with the Oppo Find X8s and Find X8s+ leading the charge. These devices were launched in China on Thursday and are expected to hit the market next week, with potential availability in global regions soon after. Other high-end smartphones, including the Vivo X200s and Realme GT7, are also anticipated to feature the Dimensity 9400+ chip later this month, expanding the options for consumers seeking cutting-edge technology.

Specifications of the Dimensity 9400+

The MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ is engineered with an Arm Cortex-X925 core that operates at 3.73GHz, a slight increase from the 3.63GHz of the previous model. It also includes three Cortex-X4 cores and four Cortex-A720 cores, maintaining the All Big Core CPU design introduced with the Dimensity 9400. The chip supports LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, accommodating up to a 320-megapixel rear camera for high-resolution photography.

In terms of graphics, the Dimensity 9400+ retains the 12-core Arm Immortalis-G925 MC12 GPU and the MediaTek NPU 890, which was first featured in the Dimensity 9400. The NPU is touted to deliver a 20 percent enhancement in AI performance through Speculative Decoding+. For imaging capabilities, the Mediatek Imagiq 1090 ISP ensures consistent performance with its predecessor, while connectivity options include Sub-6 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and GNSS systems, enhancing the overall user experience.

Enhanced Connectivity Features

The Dimensity 9400+ introduces significant improvements in connectivity, particularly in Bluetooth capabilities. The new chip allows for phone-to-phone Bluetooth connections up to 10 kilometers, a substantial upgrade from the 1.5-kilometer range supported by the Dimensity 9400. This enhancement is expected to provide users with greater flexibility and convenience in connecting devices over longer distances, making it a compelling choice for tech enthusiasts and everyday users alike.
