LAUNCH OF SECOND MCA BARGE, YARD 76 (LSAM 8) AT M/S SECON ENGINEERING PROJECTS PVT LTD, VISAKHAPATNAM

Second Missile Cum Ammunition (MCA) Barge, Yard 76 (LSAM 8) was fired by Cmde G Ravi, Warship Production Superintendent (Visakhapatnam) on 18 Aug 23 at Guttenadeevi, East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh (launch site of M/s SECON Engineering Projects Pvt Ltd). With all major and ancillary equipment/systems sourced from local manufacturers, this barge is the proud flagship of the MoD’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

The contract for the construction of 08 x MCA Barge has been concluded with M/s SECON Engineering Projects Pvt Ltd, Visakhapatnam, an MSME, in consonance with the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives of the Government of India. This barge was built with a 30 year service life. The availability of MCA barges will boost the operational commitments of IN facilitating Transportation, Embarkation and Disembarkation of items/ammunition a IN Ships both along the docks and in outer ports.
