Launch of National Competition for Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in India has announced an exciting three-tier national competition as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) to celebrate its fifth anniversary. This initiative aims to engage youth, students, and community members in promoting awareness about the dangers of substance abuse. The competition will culminate in a prestigious event at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, attended by the Honโble Prime Minister and the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Overview of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan
Launched on August 15, 2020, the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan has played a crucial role in India’s efforts to combat drug abuse. The program has successfully reached over 206.3 million individuals, including 62.9 million youth and 41.4 million women, across more than 571,000 educational institutions. As the initiative enters its sixth year, the Ministry is keen to harness the creativity and energy of young people to foster a drug-free society. The upcoming competition is designed to encourage participation from youth aged 15 to 29, students, NMBA Master Volunteers, and NSS/NCC/MyBharat Volunteers.
Competition Structure and Details
The competition will unfold in three distinct tiers, each aimed at engaging participants in different ways. The first tier is an online quiz at the district level, scheduled from September 25 to October 24, 2025. Participants will be evaluated based on their accuracy and the time taken to complete the quiz, with the top 3,500 advancing to the second tier.
The second tier involves essay writing at the state or union territory level, taking place from October 27 to November 7, 2025. Essays will be assessed by state NMBA committees for originality and relevance, with 5 to 7 participants from each state or UT moving on to the final tier.
The third tier will feature elocution or group discussions at the national level, where the top 20 participants will be recognized at the high-level event in New Delhi in November 2025. A national panel will evaluate participants based on their articulation, content depth, and leadership potential.
Recognition and Awards
All participants in the competition will receive certificates, and winners at the district and state levels will be honored during local events. Approximately 200 to 250 national-level participants will be invited to the concluding event in New Delhi, where they will have the opportunity to interact with dignitaries, including the Honโble Prime Minister and the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment. The top 20 participants will be awarded and will present group PowerPoint presentations at the event.
The Ministry encourages youth, students, and volunteers across India to take part in this transformative initiative. The online quiz will kick off on September 25, 2025, on the MyGov platform. Interested individuals are urged to visit the MyGov website to register and contribute to the movement for a Nasha Mukt Bharat.
