To enhance the evaluation and accreditation of higher education institutions, the Government of India has formed a High Level Committee, under the chairmanship of Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT Kanpur and Chairman, Standing Committee of the IIT Council saw Order of 03rd November 2022.

The Committee considered the introduction of strategic reforms consistent with the vision of the National Education Policy, 2020 and the need to adopt a simple, trust-based, objective and streamlined system for the approval, accreditation and ranking of Higher education institutions with a certified verifiable and guaranteed centralized database through modern technology-driven systems. The Committee also considered methodologies to facilitate ease of doing business for stakeholders, duly facilitating students to make informed choices for institution/programme selection. After a series of deliberations, the Committee submitted its draft Report on “Transformative Reforms to Strengthen Periodic Evaluation and Accreditation of All Higher Education Institutions in India” to the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India. Previously, this report has been in the public domain since 19th May 2023 to 15th July 2023 to collect feedback/suggestions from all stakeholders for the finalization of the Report.

Now, the deadline for collecting feedback/suggestions from all stakeholders for the finalization of the Report, which has been made public, has been extended until 15th August 2023.
