Kochi to Host BRICS Women Ministerial Meeting in July 2026

India is set to welcome the BRICS Women Ministerial Meeting on July 8-9, 2026, in Kochi, Kerala. This gathering will bring together ministers and heads of delegations from BRICS member countries with the aim of enhancing cooperation, promoting women’s empowerment, and reaffirming a shared commitment to inclusive, resilient, and sustainable development.

The theme of India’s BRICS Chairmanship revolves around four key pillars: Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability. These principles will guide the discussions at the BRICS Women Track, which is specifically designed to advance women’s empowerment in each of these areas.

This Ministerial Meeting follows on the heels of the BRICS Women Working Group Meeting that took place on July 6-7, 2026. During this previous gathering, senior officials engaged in important discussions addressing priority areas within the BRICS Women Track. Building upon the foundations established by the working group, the upcoming Ministerial Meeting will focus on proposed outcomes and chart a strategic course for deepening cooperation among BRICS nations.

Aligned with the overarching theme of India’s BRICS Chairmanship, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” the meeting will serve as a high-level platform aimed at fostering women’s leadership. Participants will explore ways to expand economic opportunities, enhance digital and financial inclusion, promote entrepreneurship, and acknowledge women’s vital contributions to climate action, food security, and nutrition. The dialogues are expected to reflect the collective ambition of BRICS nations to drive practical collaboration and hasten the progress towards gender equality.

In addition to discussions, the Ministerial Meeting will host exhibitions that showcase India’s accomplishments in women-led development across various sectors, including rural development, STEM, nutrition, and education. The program will also include a plenary session and thematic panel discussions featuring distinguished experts, policymakers, and practitioners, thereby creating an opportunity to exchange experiences, share innovative strategies, and form partnerships dedicated to empowering women.
