Key Companies to Monitor: RIL, Lenskart, and Others on February 23

Morgan Stanley has issued an overweight rating for Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), setting a target price of Rs 1,803. Analysts highlight RIL’s history of strategic pivots every decade, with the latest being a significant investment plan of $110 billion aimed at artificial intelligence (AI), energy supply, and the digital ecosystem over the next seven years. This ambitious initiative mirrors the scale of RIL’s previous investments in telecom and consumer sectors from 2014 to 2021, marking a pivotal moment in the company’s capital allocation strategy.
RIL’s Strategic Investment in AI and Energy
Reliance Industries is poised for a transformative shift with its proposed $110 billion investment in AI and related sectors. This investment is expected to rival the company’s previous capital allocations in telecom and consumer markets. Analysts predict that RIL will generate an annual operating cash flow (OCF) of $14 billion to $15 billion, which will help fund this ambitious plan. They estimate that $4 billion to $5 billion per year could be sourced through asset monetization, particularly from its telecom fiber assets, to achieve free cash flow (FCF) breakeven.
The investment strategy includes the establishment of multi-gigawatt data centers, 10 gigawatts of renewable energy infrastructure, energy storage solutions, and AI chip development. RIL plans to initiate a 120-megawatt capacity in the second half of 2026, with expectations of scaling up operations over the next five years, aligning with trends observed among global competitors.
JSW Cement’s Growth Potential
Investec has initiated a buy rating for JSW Cement, setting a target price of Rs 146. Analysts commend the company for its superior execution, cost leadership, and disciplined growth, which are characteristic of the broader JSW group. They believe JSW Cement is well-positioned to become one of India’s leading fine cement producers by fiscal year 2030, thanks to its attractive capacity pipeline and a structurally advantageous operating model.
The company is also recognized for its leadership in blended cement and commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. Analysts note that the synergies within the JSW group are still only partially realized, suggesting further growth potential as these synergies are fully unlocked.
Lenskart’s Market Position and Future Outlook
Motilal Oswal Financial Services has given Lenskart a buy rating with a target price of Rs 600. The analysts highlight Lenskart’s strong competitive advantages in a challenging retail environment. However, they caution that the company’s near-term free cash flow generation may be hindered by significant upfront capital expenditures related to its new facility in Hyderabad.
Despite these challenges, analysts expect Lenskart’s free cash flow to improve significantly beyond fiscal year 2028. They acknowledge that while Lenskart’s valuation is currently higher than that of other leading retailers, this premium is deemed justifiable given the company’s market position and growth trajectory.
Market Sentiment on United Spirits and ITC
Macquarie has assigned an underperform rating to United Spirits (USL), with a target price of Rs 1,350. Analysts report that Pernod India experienced a sales growth of approximately 5% in the October-December 2025 quarter, while United Spirits achieved a 10% sales growth during the same six-month period. Despite some market share gains, analysts express caution due to inflationary pressures on bulk scotch prices and a muted outlook for volume growth, particularly in light of recent tax hikes in Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, HSBC has a hold rating on ITC, setting a target price of Rs 360. Their market analysis indicates that ITC has raised prices by 20-30% to counteract higher taxes, although this adjustment has only been applied to a portion of its product portfolio. Analysts suggest that while the downside risk is limited, there are currently no significant upside catalysts to drive growth.
