Jammu & Kashmir Unveils First Gen Z Post Office at AIIMS Vijaypur
Jammu & Kashmir has reached a groundbreaking milestone with the launch of its first-ever Gen Z Post Office at the AIIMS Vijaypur campus. This innovative initiative, part of the Department of Posts’ strategy to modernize campus post offices, aims to turn traditional postal services into vibrant, technology-driven hubs tailored for youth. With this development, AIIMS Vijaypur stands out as the first AIIMS institution in India to house a Gen Z Post Office.
Inauguration Ceremony Highlights
The Gen Z Post Office was officially inaugurated on December 17, 2025, by Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, the Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Vijaypur. He was joined by Shri D. S. V. R. Murthy, Chief Postmaster General of Jammu & Kashmir Circle, and Shri Shah Nawaz Khan, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Jammu Postal Division. The inauguration ceremony attracted senior postal officials, faculty, staff, and students from AIIMS Vijaypur.
Commitment to Modern Services
During the event, Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta expressed that the establishment of the Gen Z Post Office signifies AIIMS Vijaypur’s dedication to delivering modern, easily accessible public services. He highlighted the significance of aligning postal services with the evolving expectations of the younger generation through the integration of technological advancements and customer-focused solutions.
A Youth-Centric Approach
The Gen Z Post Office is designed to meet the specific needs and aspirations of Generation Z. It boasts a modern environment, digital payment options, simplified service delivery, and integrated services, including postal, banking, and insurance, all under one roof. To celebrate this notable occasion, a special postal cancellation mark was issued on the inaugural day, which will be stamped on all outgoing mail dispatched from the AIIMS Vijaypur Post Office.
Enhancing Community Awareness
This innovative initiative also seeks to boost awareness of postal savings schemes, digital banking services via India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), and additional value-added services among students, healthcare professionals, and the broader community associated with AIIMS Vijaypur. The launch of the Gen Z Post Office underscores the collaborative efforts of the Department of Posts and AIIMS Vijaypur to enhance campus-based public services. This initiative marks a significant step in the transformation journey of India Post, aiming to turn traditional postal facilities into modern, connected, and future-oriented service hubs for young citizens.
