ITRA and Heartfulness Institute Join Forces for Holistic Health

The Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA), recognized as an Institute of National Importance, has signed a significant five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Heartfulness Institute (HFI) based in Kanha Shanti Vanam, Hyderabad. This partnership is designed to combine the strengths of ITRA in Ayurvedic education, clinical practice, and research with HFI’s expertise in meditation, yoga, and lifestyle practices.

The agreement, formalized in August 2026, aims to enhance preventive and holistic healthcare through an integrated approach that encompasses various aspects of wellness. It was highlighted during a recent Stakeholders’ Consultative Meeting at Kanha Shanti Vanam, which saw participation from several key figures, including Union Minister of State (I/C) for Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, and senior officials from the Ministry of Ayush and NITI Aayog.

Collaboration Details

Prof. Tanuja Nesari, Director of ITRA, and Shri Kumar Kannan from the Heartfulness Institute were pivotal in signing the agreement. Together, they set the framework for this collaboration, which explores numerous avenues such as national and international research initiatives, student and faculty exchanges, and academic programme sharing.

The MoU lays out specific areas for cooperation, including capacity building, innovation, and the development of intellectual property. This collaboration seeks to advance research and educational exchanges that focus on disease prevention and integrative wellness.

Supporting Holistic Health and Sustainable Development

This partnership aligns with the Ministry of Ayush’s broader initiatives to promote evidence-based research and quality education in Ayurvedic practices worldwide. By fostering cooperation between ITRA and HFI, the MoU is expected to enhance the global profile of Ayurveda while contributing to the advancement of holistic health solutions.

The collaborative framework is not only anticipated to benefit participants directly involved in this initiative but also aims to create a ripple effect in the community, ultimately leading to improved health outcomes and sustainable development.
