It is not that I am mad, it is only that my head is different from yours
“It is not that I am mad, it is only that my head is different from yours.”ย Quote by Zeno of Citium
Zeno of Citium (c. 334 BC โ c. 262 BC) was a Greek philosopher who founded the school of philosophy known as Stoicism. He was born in Citium, on the island of Cyprus, and he later moved to Athens where he studied under various philosophers, including the Cynic philosopher Crates of Thebes and the Academic philosopher Polemon.
Zeno developed his own philosophy, which he called Stoicism, named after the stoa or porch in Athens where he used to teach. His philosophy emphasized the importance of reason, ethics, and self-control. According to Stoicism, the goal of life is to live in accordance with nature, to cultivate virtue, and to achieve inner tranquility and peace of mind.
Zeno’s teachings were widely influential, and his school of philosophy became one of the most important and enduring schools of ancient Greek philosophy. His writings have not survived, but his ideas were preserved by later Stoic philosophers, such as Epictetus and Marcus Aurelius, who wrote extensively about Stoicism and its principles.
