The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the final list of 350 players for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction, scheduled for December 16 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. This list was narrowed down from an initial pool of 1,355 players after consultations with various franchises. Notably, South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock has made a surprise entry into the auction after reversing his international retirement and recently scoring a century against India. His base price is set at INR 1 crore, significantly lower than his previous auction price of INR 2 crore.

The IPL 2026 auction will kick off at 1 PM UAE time (2:30 PM IST) on December 16. The BCCI has structured the auction to first present capped players categorized by their roles, including batters, all-rounders, wicketkeeper-batters, fast bowlers, and spin bowlers. Following this, uncapped players will be introduced under the same classifications. The auction format aims to streamline the selection process and ensure that franchises can make informed decisions based on their team needs.
Notable Player Additions
Among the new players added to the auction list, Quinton de Kock stands out. His inclusion follows a recommendation from a franchise after he recently returned to international cricket. De Kock’s base price reflects a significant drop, indicating the challenges he faced in the previous season. Additionally, several Sri Lankan players have also been added to the roster, including Traveen Mathew, Binura Fernando, Kusal Perera, and Dunith Wellalage. These additions highlight the diverse talent pool available for franchises to consider during the auction.
Auction Format and Player Presentation
The auction will commence with the presentation of capped players, starting with the first lot of batters, which includes notable names like Cameron Green, Devon Conway, and David Miller. Following the batters, the auction will proceed to all-rounders, with Venkatesh Iyer featured in the second lot. The BCCI has indicated that the accelerated phase of the auction will begin after Player No. 70, Afghanistan’s Wahidullah Zadran. This phase will cover players from 71 to 350, allowing franchises to submit names of players who remain unsold for further consideration.

The finalized list of players reflects the preferences of the franchises, with multiple new faces making their way into the auction.
