IPL 2025: KL Rahul leads DC against RCB at home

KL Rahul Shines in Delhi Capitals’ Victory Over RCB

BENGALURU: KL Rahul delivered an impressive performance, scoring an unbeaten 93 runs off 53 balls, leading Delhi Capitals (DC) to a six-wicket victory against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). With this win, DC successfully chased down a target of 164 runs, sealing the match with 13 balls to spare. Rahul’s stellar innings, complemented by a crucial partnership with Tristan Stubbs, showcased his talent on familiar turf at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Rahulโ€™s Match-Winning Performance

During the match, KL Rahul demonstrated his prowess as a classic yet flamboyant batsman. Despite facing early setbacks, with DC at 58/4 in the ninth over, Rahul shifted into high gear. His innings included seven fours and six sixes, culminating in a decisive six that marked the victory for DC. After being dropped early on by Rajat Patidar when he was on just five runs, Rahul capitalized on the opportunity, forming a crucial 111-run partnership with Tristan Stubbs, who scored 38 runs off 23 balls. This collaboration effectively turned the game in DC’s favor, as they overcame the pressure from RCB’s bowlers.

RCB’s Struggles and Key Dismissals

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru struggled to maintain momentum after a promising start. Openers Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk fell quickly, leaving the team in a precarious position. Although Phil Salt initially set the pace with an aggressive 37 runs off just 17 balls, his dismissal due to a miscommunication on a single proved to be a turning point. RCB managed to score 163 runs in their innings, largely thanks to Tim David’s late flourish, scoring 37 runs off 20 balls. However, the lack of partnerships and wickets falling at regular intervals hindered their ability to post a competitive total.

Capitals’ Bowling Attack Shines

Delhi Capitals’ bowlers played a pivotal role in restricting RCB’s scoring. Both Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel delivered exceptional performances, with Yadav claiming two wickets for just 17 runs. The spin attack was particularly effective in stifling RCB’s batting lineup, which struggled against the slower deliveries. The combination of disciplined bowling and sharp fielding kept the RCB batsmen under constant pressure. As a result, the Capitals’ bowlers ensured that RCB could not build any significant partnerships, ultimately leading to a comfortable victory for DC.
