International Meeting on Climate Change Emphasizes the Importance of Observations

Atmospheric science experts from around the globe gathered in Nainital, Uttarakhand, to discuss the critical changes in greenhouse gases and their implications for climate change. The event, hosted by the Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), focused on the significance of FTIR spectroscopy-based observations from the ecologically sensitive Himalayan regions. This annual meeting, which took place from June 16 to June 20, 2025, brought together key figures from various international networks dedicated to understanding atmospheric composition changes.

The annual meeting united experts and data users from the Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Composition Change (NDACC-IRWG), the Total Carbon Column Observing Network (TCCON), and the Collaborative Carbon Column Observing Network (COCCON). This five-day event aimed to enhance the understanding of atmospheric composition changes through ground-based Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) spectroscopy.
