INS Sudarshini Docks in Egypt, Strengthening Naval Ties
The Indian Navy’s Sail Training Ship INS Sudarshini made a significant stop at Safaga, Egypt, on February 21, 2026, during its Lokayan-26 deployment. Completing a challenging journey of 1,832 nautical miles over 16 days, the ship’s arrival highlights the dedication and resilience of its crew.
Upon reaching Safaga, officials from the Egyptian Navy and representatives from the Indian Embassy provided a warm welcome to the ship and its crew. The Commanding Officer of INS Sudarshini took the opportunity to meet with Rear Admiral Ramy Ahmed Ismail Mohamed, the Base Commander of the Red Sea and Safaga Naval Base. Their discussions underscored the strengthening maritime partnership between India and Egypt, focusing on enhanced cooperation and interoperability between the two naval forces.
