Indian Navy to Host Seminar on Cyber Attacks’ Impact on Maritime Sector and National Security
The Indian Navy is set to host a significant seminar on October 16, 2025, at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi, focusing on the “Impact of Cyber Attacks on the Maritime Sector and Its Effects on National Security and International Relations.” This event aims to enhance understanding of cyber threats within the maritime domain and promote collaboration among key stakeholders to bolster cybersecurity efforts. The seminar will feature prominent discussions led by experts from various ministries and organizations, emphasizing the importance of a secure maritime infrastructure.
Keynote Address and Expert Panels
The seminar will be inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister of State for the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Jitin Prasada, who will deliver the keynote address. Following this, a series of panel discussions will take place, featuring distinguished experts from various governmental and private organizations. Participants will include representatives from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the National Security Council Secretariat, and the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, among others.
The discussions will cover critical topics such as global cyber threats to maritime infrastructure, civil and military partnerships, and the maritime sector’s role as critical information infrastructure. These panels aim to foster a comprehensive dialogue on the challenges and solutions related to cybersecurity in the maritime sector.
Aligning with National Initiatives
The seminar aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s MAHASAGAR initiative, which promotes mutual and holistic advancement for security and growth across regions. It also supports the “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India) initiative by advocating for indigenous, secure-by-design digital systems and robust public-private partnerships. The discussions will emphasize the importance of cybersecurity as a fundamental enabler of port-led growth, smart logistics, offshore energy security, and critical naval operations, in line with the Maritime India Vision 2030 and the Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.
Tech Exhibition Showcasing Innovations
In conjunction with the seminar, a Tech Exhibition will be organized in partnership with the Data Security Council of India (DSCI). This exhibition will highlight indigenous innovations in cybersecurity and defense technology developed by startups from across the country. It aims to showcase products that promote self-reliance and contribute to India’s roadmap towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. The exhibition will serve as a platform for demonstrating advancements in technology that can enhance national security and maritime safety.
