INDIAN NAVY HOSTS PRIME MINISTER OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA ONBOARD INS SAHYADRI AND INS KOLKATA AT PORT MORESBY

INS Sahyadri and INS Kolkata on mission to Eastern IOR had the honor and privilege of receiving the Honorable Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea (PNG) James Marape during their stopover in Port Moresby. The PM, accompanied by cabinet members and senior government officials, was hosted on board jointly by the Indian Navy and India’s High Commissioner Shri Inbasekar Sudaramurthi.

In his speech, Prime Minister Marape welcomed Indian naval vessels to PNG. He also thanked the Honorable Shri Narendra Modi for visiting PNG on May 23 and highlighted his stellar efforts in strengthening India-PNG ties. Speaking on the need for more cooperation on defense matters, Prime Minister Marape approved more visits by Indian navy vessels which would help in making connections between people.

A captivating cultural show and delectable selection of Indian cuisine formed part of the reception which was also attended by members of the Indian High Commission and the Indian Diaspora.

The Indian Navy remains committed to realizing the Honorable Prime Minister’s vision SAGA (Security and growth for everyone in the region) through such port visits where, in addition to professional interactions and social events, visiting vessels also undertake numerous capacity-building activities.
