The Indian Agricultural Research Institute, popularly known as the Pusa Institute and a harbinger of the Green Revolution, climbs to the top of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking crest for the year 2023 in the Agriculture and allied sectors category. The 8th edition of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was announced by Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Education, Government of India on 5 June 2023. The NIRF has released the ranking of around 8,686 higher education institutions (HEIs) that participated in the ranking exercise. Previously there were four categories and seven thematic domains. Agriculture and allied industries were added as a subject domain for the first time.
IARI continues its commitment to excellence in agricultural research, education, and outreach. The institute is already on the path to evolve as a global university. It has initiated graduate programs in 4 disciplines agriculture, community science, B. Tech (Engineering), and B. Tech (Biotechnology). Alignment with the new education policy 2020; plans to launch several diploma and certification courses to place emphasis on vocational education.
In addition to the hard work and brilliance of IARI’s faculty; the planning and guidance of the Institute’s Director and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh; and the dedicated efforts of Dean & Joint Director, Education, Dr. Anupma Singh, and Assoc Dean Dr. Atul Kumar went a long way in securing the top position.
