India Unveils AI-Powered Power Pavilion at AI Impact Summit 2026
In a significant step towards modernizing India’s power sector, Union Minister for Power, Shri Manohar Lal, inaugurated the Ministry of Power Pavilion at the AI Impact Summit 2026. The event, held at Bharat Mandapam, highlights India’s determination to harness Artificial Intelligence (AI) for creating a future-ready, efficient, and resilient energy infrastructure.
The pavilion showcases a visionary approach to modernizing the power ecosystem, encapsulated in the theme, “From Megawatts to Megabytes: Transforming India’s Power Ecosystem.” It illustrates the transformative impact of digital technologies on generation, transmission, and distribution systems across the country.
Key Innovations on Display
Among the key innovative features showcased at the Ministry of Power Pavilion are:
- AI-Driven Power for a Self-Reliant India: This initiative demonstrates how advanced digital solutions are enhancing operational smartness and decision-making throughout the power value chain.
- Startup Zone: A dedicated area highlighting groundbreaking solutions from startups that are accelerating the transformation of the energy sector.
- PG-AMRIT: An AI-enabled initiative by POWERGRID focused on optimizing transmission asset monitoring for heightened operational efficiency.
- eAabhas Early Warning System: Utilizing AI, machine learning, and Internet of Things (IoT) technology, this platform offers real-time monitoring and flood forecasting for dams and barrages, enabling proactive risk management.
- AI-Driven RDSS Implementation: Advanced, indigenous technologies are being deployed to tackle operational efficiency and revenue management challenges faced by Indian distribution companies (DISCOMs).
This pavilion epitomizes the Ministry’s commitment to employing cutting-edge AI technologies to enhance infrastructure reliability, boost efficiency, and encourage sustainable growth in the power sector.
Exploring AI in Public Transport
In addition to his visit to the power pavilion, the Minister toured the exhibition organized by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) at the summit. Dr. Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of DMRC, provided insights into AI initiatives there.
Officials from DMRC explained how AI is being integrated to speed up the resolution of customer complaints and improve passenger experience. Furthermore, AI technology is being employed for monitoring overhead electrification, interaction between pantographs and overhead lines, wheel grinding, rolling stock subsystems, and signaling systems.
The emphasis on integrating AI into both the power and transportation sectors signifies a broader initiative toward creating a smarter, more responsive urban infrastructure in India.
