India Sanctions 1000 Multipurpose Centers for Tribal Welfare
In a significant move aimed at enhancing the welfare of tribal communities, Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Shri Durgadas Uikey, announced today in Lok Sabha the successful sanctioning of 1000 Multipurpose Centers (MPCs) under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN). This initiative aims to uplift and support the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), with data estimating around 12 lakh households within these communities across various states and Union Territories.

Support for Off-Grid Solar Solutions
The MNRE reported that the Central Financial Assistance (CFA) framework completely covers the costs associated with off-grid solar systems, including all applicable taxes, transportation, installation, and maintenance services for five years. Furthermore, the initiative includes a Remote Monitoring System (RMS) to ensure consistent functionality and upkeep of these installations, reinforcing the commitment to providing sustainable energy solutions to tribal communities.

As of November 24, 2025, the PM JANMAN program’s progress highlights various activities across ministries aimed at improving quality of life in tribal regions. For instance, approximately 238,133 pucca houses have been completed under the Rural Development Ministry, while significant strides have been made in establishing mobile medical units, energizing unelectrified households, and enhancing access to educational facilities.
