India Post Achieves Record Quarterly Revenue Exceeding Rs 4,000 Crore; Q1 Turnover Sees 22% Increase
The Department of Posts (DoP) has achieved a historic milestone, reporting a first-quarter revenue of Rs 4,008 crore for the April-June period of FY27. This marks the first time India Post’s quarterly turnover has surpassed the Rs 4,000-crore threshold, according to Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. The revenue reflects a significant increase of 22.2% compared to Rs 3,280 crore in the same quarter of the previous financial year.
Revenue Growth Across Segments
Minister Scindia noted that the first quarter is typically not the strongest for India Post, with higher revenues usually seen in the final quarter of the fiscal year. For the full financial year FY26, India Post reported a total revenue of Rs 15,500 crore, up from Rs 13,218 crore in FY25.
Among its various business segments, the parcel vertical experienced the most substantial growth, with revenue rising 50% to Rs 296 crore from Rs 197 crore a year ago. The mail segment also saw a notable increase, with revenue climbing 42% to Rs 783 crore from Rs 552 crore. The International Relations and Global Business (IR&GB) segment grew by 35%, reaching Rs 184 crore from Rs 136 crore, despite challenges posed by the West Asia crisis.
Performance of Citizen-Centric Services
Citizen-Centric Services, which encompass Aadhaar enrolment and updates, KYC, and Passport Seva Kendra services, reported an impressive 86% increase in revenue, totaling Rs 203 crore compared to Rs 109 crore in the same period last year.
India Post operates across six business verticals: Mail, Parcel, International Relations, Post Office Savings Bank (POSB), Postal Life Insurance (PLI), and Citizen-Centric Services. Scindia highlighted the best-performing postal circles, noting that Andhra Pradesh exceeded its mail revenue target with 106% growth. Kerala and Rajasthan led in the IR&GB segment, while West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh topped the Citizen-Centric Services with 107% and 106% growth, respectively.
