India Launches PANKHUDI Portal for Women’s and Children’s Welfare

The Government of India has taken a monumental step towards enhancing the welfare and empowerment of women and children through the launch of the PANKHUDI portal. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, this integrated digital platform aims to improve transparency, coordination, and stakeholder participation in initiatives focused on women’s and children’s development.
Strategic Launch of PANKHUDI
The PANKHUDI portal was unveiled on January 8, 2026, by the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Annpurna Devi. The event was attended by the Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Smt. Savitri Thakur, and Secretary of the Ministry, Shri Anil Malik. This launch underscores the government’s commitment to employing technology as a vital link between citizens and the administration, in alignment with the Prime Minister’s vision for greater digital engagement and trust.
PANKHUDI serves as a single-window digital solution that unifies efforts from individuals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), corporate entities, and various government agencies. This platform streamlines contributions across critical areas such as nutrition, health, early childhood care, child welfare, rehabilitation, and women’s safety and empowerment.
Enhancing Participation and Accountability
Designed for maximum engagement, PANKHUDI allows contributors to register, propose initiatives, and track the status of their donations through a clear approval workflow. This approach ensures greater accountability and transparency in managing initiatives aimed at women and children development.
The portal strengthens key government missions, including Mission Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0, Mission Vatsalya, and Mission Shakti, by facilitating a structured digital mechanism for implementation. Collaboration is enhanced among various stakeholders, including Central and State Governments, civil society organizations, and the private sector, ensuring a more integrated approach to social development.
In a move to bolster financial transparency, all contributions made through PANKHUDI are limited to non-cash methods. This policy aims to enhance trust and integrity in the funding process, ensuring that support reaches the intended beneficiaries effectively.
Positive Impact on Local Institutions
The introduction of the PANKHUDI portal is a promising development for improving services in over 1.4 million Anganwadi Centres, approximately 5,000 Child Care Institutions, around 800 One Stop Centres, more than 500 Shakhi Niwas, and over 400 Shakti Sadan across India. This initiative is poised to significantly enhance the quality of services available to millions of citizens, ultimately contributing to a better quality of life.
