India Launches First Raisina Science Diplomacy Initiative

The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India (OPSA) and the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) have joined forces to unveil the inaugural Raisina Science Diplomacy Initiative (SDI) set for 2026. This ambitious initiative aims to create an influential platform within the esteemed Raisina Dialogue, focusing on the crucial intersection of science, technology, and diplomacy.

The announcement was made during a meeting at the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser, attended by notable figures including Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, the Principal Scientific Adviser, and Dr. Samir Saran, President of ORF. Also present were key members of both organizations, including Dr. Parvinder Maini and Dr. Preeti Banzal from OPSA, and Ms. Tanoubi Ngangom and Ms. Pulkit Mohan from ORF.

A Platform for Global Dialogue

In his remarks, Prof. Sood emphasized the increasing significance of science and technology in shaping global policy and enhancing diplomatic relations, particularly in light of India’s evolving strategic landscape. The meeting laid the groundwork for potential themes and objectives of the SDI Initiative.
