He pointed out that unlocking India’s vast mineral potential is crucial for self-reliance in the sector. The minister’s remarks underline a broader governmental vision for a self-sufficient economy by 2047, dubbed ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Reforms to Enhance Transparency and Efficiency
Shri Reddy remarked that the ongoing reforms across various sectors, including mining, are not just standard regulatory changes but rather a “reform express.” He highlighted the importance of a robust exploration regime in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The Mines Ministry is implementing transformative initiatives aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, and increasing investments in the mining sector.
Launch of the Next-Generation GSI Portal
During the event, the Union Minister also unveiled the Geological Survey of India’s (GSI) Next-Generation (NG) Portal. This innovative cloud-enabled platform is designed for data acquisition, analysis, visualization, and dissemination, incorporating advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning tools. The NG Portal is expected to significantly enhance the transparency and efficiency of mineral exploration, providing a data-driven foundation for decision-making. The launch was attended by notable officials, including Shri Piyush Goyal, Secretary of the Ministry of Mines, and Shri Sanjay Lohia, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Mines.
Details of the New Auction Tranche
