India Executes Operation Sindoor in Response to Attack

โOperation Sindoorโ has marked a significant moment in India’s defense history, as the country exercised its “Right to Respond” following an attack on its territory. During the 66th Raising Day event of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) held at the Manekshaw Centre in Delhi on May 7, 2025, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the Armed Forces for their precise and compassionate actions against terrorist training camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. He emphasized that the operation was executed with careful planning, ensuring no harm came to civilian populations.
Significant Military Action
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted the successful execution of โOperation Sindoor,โ which aimed to dismantle terrorist training camps across the border. He commended the Armed Forces for their thoughtful approach, stating that the operation was limited to military targets and designed to undermine the morale of terrorist groups. Singh expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his unwavering support to the military during this operation. The Defence Minister’s remarks underscored the importance of such actions in maintaining national security and deterring future threats.
Infrastructure Development Initiatives
The event also featured the virtual inauguration of 50 strategically important infrastructure projects by the Defence Minister. These projects, which include 30 bridges, 17 roads, and three additional works, were constructed at a total cost of Rs 1,879 crore. They span across six border states and two Union Territories, including Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Arunachal Pradesh. Singh noted that these developments are crucial for enhancing security, connectivity, and economic growth in remote regions. Over the past two years, the BRO has completed a record 161 projects worth Rs 5,600 crore, with a total of 456 projects completed in the last four years, amounting to Rs 13,743 crore.
Strategic Importance of Infrastructure
Rajnath Singh emphasized that modern defense capabilities rely heavily on robust infrastructure. He stated that advanced weaponry is ineffective if it cannot be deployed swiftly to critical locations. The BRO plays a vital role in ensuring that military forces are well-prepared and strategically positioned. Singh called for the development of next-generation infrastructure to meet the demands of the current geopolitical landscape, urging the BRO to maintain war-level readiness in its preparations.
Commitment to Border Area Development
The Defence Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing border areas, citing the Sela Tunnel as a key project symbolizing this initiative. He highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s vision to revitalize border villages through programs like the Vibrant Villages Programme, which aims to enhance connectivity by constructing approximately 35 kilometers of roads daily. Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan, Director General of the BRO, also spoke about the organization’s growing significance in executing infrastructure projects in challenging terrains, emphasizing the well-being of its workforce. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including state governors and senior officials from the Ministry of Defence.
