India Completes Dominant Series Sweep Over West Indies

India achieved a convincing 2-0 series victory over the West Indies in the second Test held at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Chasing a target of 121 runs, India secured the win with seven wickets in hand. KL Rahul played a crucial role, remaining unbeaten on 58 runs, while Dhruv Jurel contributed with a score of 6. This victory marks a significant turnaround for India after a disappointing series loss to New Zealand last year, as they also won the first Test in Ahmedabad by an innings and 140 runs.

India’s Solid Performance in the Second Test

On the final day of the Test match, India entered the field needing just 58 runs to clinch the series. The team managed to achieve this target without much difficulty, despite losing Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill during the chase. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s early dismissal on Day 4 added a bit of pressure, but Rahul and Jurel’s steady partnership ensured a smooth finish. This series win is particularly significant for India, as it demonstrates their ability to bounce back after the previous year’s setbacks.

West Indies Struggle in the Series

The West Indies faced a challenging series, suffering five consecutive defeats in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings. They had previously been whitewashed 0-3 by Australia at home, and this latest loss against India adds to their woes. In the second Test, the West Indies showed some resilience, particularly with John Campbell and Shai Hope’s impressive centuries that helped them recover from a difficult position. However, their overall performance in the series fell short, leading to a disappointing start in the 2025-27 WTC cycle.

Bowling Challenges and Key Performances

India’s bowlers faced a tough challenge on a slow pitch throughout the match. They had to work hard for more than 200 overs to dismiss the West Indies, who managed to score 390 in their second innings. Kuldeep Yadav was a standout performer, taking five wickets in the first innings and adding three more in the second, including the crucial wicket of captain Roston Chase. Washington Sundar expressed satisfaction with the team’s bowling efforts, emphasizing the importance of fitness and endurance in Test cricket. Despite the difficulties, the Indian bowlers successfully took all 20 wickets, showcasing their determination and skill.
