The Government of India has made a significant commitment to advancing its scientific research and technological development by increasing the budget for the Vigyan Dhara scheme. The allocation has surged from ₹330.75 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25 to an impressive ₹1425 crore for 2025-26. This investment is part of a broader plan, with a total outlay of ₹10,579.84 crore earmarked for the scheme from 2021-22 to 2025-26, reflecting the government’s dedication to fostering a robust scientific ecosystem.

- Science and Technology (S&T) Institutional and Human Capacity Building: This aspect aims to enhance India’s scientific infrastructure and develop human resources. It includes the establishment of advanced research and development (R&D) laboratories in academic institutions, creating a conducive environment for scientific inquiry.
- Research and Development (R&D): Vigyan Dhara emphasizes research across critical domains, including sustainable energy and water resources. It encourages collaborative research through international partnerships and aims to provide access to global research facilities.

As of March 2025, over 57,869 individuals have benefited from the scheme, including students aged 10-15 through the INSPIRE-MANAK program, which nurtures scientific thinking and encourages research careers. In Telangana alone, 4,002 beneficiaries have accessed the scheme, with ₹3.3 crore utilized as of March 10, 2025.
The scheme operates as a central sector initiative, with the Department of Science and Technology (DST) actively raising awareness through media coverage, a dedicated web portal, and stakeholder engagement.
