India and Sweden Unveil AI Partnership at Summit 2026
In a significant move aimed at bolstering collaboration in the domain of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the IndiaAI Mission and Business Sweden have formalized a Statement of Intent (SoI). This agreement, signed during the India AI Impact Summit 2026, seeks to enhance trade and investment between the two nations while pushing the boundaries of AI and digital technologies.
Strengthening Ties for Innovation
The Statement of Intent establishes a structured framework for joint efforts in developing, implementing, and deploying AI solutions, focusing on tangible outcomes for industry and society. This cooperation builds on the rich history of partnership between India and Sweden and is designed to align with the national priorities of both countries—leveraging AI for innovation, fostering economic growth, and promoting sustainable development while effectively managing associated risks.
Voices from Leadership
Ms. Kavita Bhatia, COO of the IndiaAI Mission, emphasized the depth of the partnership, stating, “India and Sweden are not merely partners in Artificial Intelligence; rather, we are co-architects of a value-based, sustainable, and trusted AI future. Our collaboration reflects complementary strengths and shared democratic values, positioning both nations to shape the next phase of global technological transformation.”
Mrs. Sofia Högman, Trade & Invest Commissioner of Sweden to India, echoed this sentiment, highlighting that the SoI marks a pivotal step in turning their collective strategic vision into practical results. “Through SITAC, we are looking to connect our ecosystems and bring together the best AI and digitech innovations from both countries to create new business opportunities,” she remarked.
Introducing the SITAC Initiative
As a key component of this partnership, India and Sweden will jointly establish the Sweden–India Technology and Artificial Intelligence Corridor (SITAC). This initiative aims to serve as the premier platform for structured engagement among government agencies, industry players, startups, and academic institutions from both nations.
The SITAC program will include several initiatives designed to foster collaboration, such as:
- Organizing conferences, seminars, and thematic workshops.
- Facilitating exchanges between Indian and Swedish AI ecosystems.
- Conducting field visits to innovation hubs and centers of excellence.
- Encouraging engagements among companies, investors, researchers, and policymakers.
- Identifying opportunities for joint innovation platforms and investment corridors.
- Promoting the bilateral deployment of AI solutions across prioritized sectors.
Path Forward for AI Collaboration
This partnership aligns the objectives of the IndiaAI Mission to develop a comprehensive national AI framework, enhancing access to compute, data, and skilled talent with Sweden’s expertise in industrial innovation, advanced R&D, and responsible AI practices. It is anticipated that this collaboration will support enterprises, startups, and research institutions in both countries, jointly creating scalable and inclusive AI solutions that cater to the needs of the future.
