Both ministers reaffirmed the strong foundation of the India-Greece Strategic Partnership, which is rooted in shared values such as peace, stability, and mutual respect.
Strengthening Defence Industries
During the meeting, both nations committed to enhancing their indigenous defence industries through collaborative efforts. This initiative will integrate India’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ program with Greece’s defence reforms outlined in ‘Agenda 2030’. A key outcome of the discussions was the signing of a Joint Declaration of Intent to bolster defence industrial cooperation, paving the way for a comprehensive five-year roadmap.
Strategic Military Cooperation Plan
The Defence Ministers also explored issues surrounding regional peace and security, highlighting the ongoing deepening of bilateral defence relations. As a result, a Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2026 was exchanged, which outlines the framework for military interactions between the armed forces of India and Greece.
Maritime Collaboration and Liaison Positioning
Remarkably, both nations found common ground on crucial maritime issues, emphasizing their historical significance as ancient seafaring nations. Notably, the Greek side announced the designation of an International Liaison Officer at the Information Fusion Center-Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR) located in Gurugram, enhancing cooperation in maritime security.
