iGOT Karmayogi Reaches 1 Crore Registered Users

Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Minister of State for various ministries including Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, has announced a significant achievement in the National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building, known as Mission Karmayogi. The iGOT Karmayogi platform, a digital learning initiative, has surpassed 1 crore registered civil servants across India, marking a remarkable increase from just 3 lakh users in January 2023. This rapid growth highlights the increasing digital integration in public administration and underscores the government’s commitment to developing a modern, citizen-focused civil service.

Platform Growth and Learning Ecosystem

The impressive milestone of 1 crore registered users on the iGOT Karmayogi platform is largely due to the active involvement of civil servants from both central and state governments. Over 60% of the registered users come from all 36 states and Union Territories, while the remainder are affiliated with central government ministries and departments. This broad participation illustrates the platform’s extensive reach and its integration into state-level governance. The states with the highest number of registered civil servants include Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. To date, the platform has issued over 3.1 crore learning certificates based on course completions, accumulating more than 3.8 crore learning hours.

The iGOT Karmayogi platform currently offers more than 2,400 courses in 16 languages, developed by over 200 contributors, including various government ministries, civil services training institutes, civil society organizations, and academic institutions. All courses are aligned with the Karmayogi Competency Model, which is based on indigenous knowledge and the principles of Mission Karmayogi. This diverse learning ecosystem aims to enhance the skills and competencies of civil servants across the nation.

National and State-Level Capacity Building Initiatives

A key factor in the rapid growth of the iGOT platform has been the organization of learning weeks at both national and state levels. The inaugural Karmayogi Saptah, or National Learning Week, took place from October 19 to 27, 2024. This event saw a remarkable uptake in learning, with over 32 lakh course completions and more than 38 lakh hours of learning recorded. Launched by the Prime Minister, this initiative aims to cultivate a responsive and dynamic civil service capable of addressing India’s governance challenges as the nation moves towards its vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Inspired by the national initiative, several states and Union Territories, including Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra, have also conducted their own State Learning Weeks. These events promote a progressive approach to public service development and encourage civil servants to engage in continuous learning and skill enhancement.

Way Forward

With the platform now boasting over 1 crore registered civil servants, future plans for the iGOT Karmayogi platform include expanding the range of courses available in regional languages, enhancing course quality, and collaborating with additional content providers. The platform aims to improve user experience through the integration of artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies.

The iGOT Karmayogi platform is designed as a Digital Public Infrastructure, providing a sustainable and secure digital environment for ongoing learning in the public sector. Interest in adopting the iGOT Karmayogi framework has been expressed by several countries in the Caribbean and beyond, highlighting India’s emerging role as a global leader in digital innovation.

Guided by its principles of enabling, empowering, and evolving, the platform continues to strive for excellence while remaining responsive to user needs. iGOT Karmayogi is dedicated to building capacity for citizen-centric governance, equipping government officials with the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver efficient and accountable public services to every citizen in the country.
