Huawei Unveils Innovative Pura X Foldable Phone

Huawei has officially launched its latest foldable smartphone, the Pura X, in China, showcasing a distinctive clamshell design. This cutting-edge device features a 6.3-inch inner display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, the widest available in clamshell models. Alongside a 3.5-inch external screen, the Pura X is equipped with a robust triple camera system and operates on HarmonyOS 5.0.1, offering up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The smartphone is powered by a 4,720mAh battery, supporting both wired and wireless fast charging.
Pricing and Availability
The Huawei Pura X is available for pre-order in China, with prices starting at CNY 7,499 (approximately Rs. 89,000) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The model featuring 12GB RAM and 512GB storage is priced at CNY 7,999 (around Rs. 95,000). Customers can choose from a variety of colors, including Moon Shadow Gray, Magic Night Black, Stylish Red, Stylish Green, and Zero White. Deliveries are scheduled to commence on March 21.
Additionally, Huawei is offering a Collector’s Edition of the Pura X, which features a unique tri-color back cover and enhanced satellite communication capabilities. This special edition is priced at CNY 8,999 (approximately Rs. 1,08,000) for the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage model, while the 16GB RAM and 1TB storage variant is available for CNY 9,999 (around Rs. 1,19,000).
Specifications and Features
The Huawei Pura X runs on HarmonyOS 5.0.1 and boasts a 6.3-inch internal OLED LTPO 2.0 display, offering a resolution of 1,320 x 2,120 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. This wide 16:10 aspect ratio enhances the viewing experience compared to traditional flip phones, which typically feature a taller 21:9 aspect ratio. The external display measures 3.5 inches with a resolution of 980 x 980 pixels and also supports a 120Hz LTPO 2.0 adaptive refresh rate. Both screens are designed with 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and a touch sampling rate of up to 300 Hz. While the specific chipset remains undisclosed, it is speculated to be a variant of the Kirin 9010. In terms of photography, the Pura X is equipped with a triple rear camera setup, including a 50-megapixel primary sensor with optical image stabilization, a 40-megapixel ultra-wide-angle macro camera, and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera, also featuring OIS. For selfies, the inner screen houses a 10.7-megapixel camera. The device is built to withstand water and dust with an IPX8 rating.

The Huawei Pura X offers a comprehensive range of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS/AGPS, NFC, GLONASS, Beidou, NavIC, and a USB Type-C port for charging. It is equipped with various sensors, such as an ambient light sensor, color temperature sensor, gesture sensor, gravity sensor, infrared (IR) sensor, hall sensor, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. For security, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner is included. The device is powered by a 4,720mAh battery, supporting 66W wired charging and 40W wireless charging, ensuring users can stay connected and powered throughout the day. The Collector’s Edition also introduces a satellite communication feature, enhancing its functionality for users in remote areas.
