HDFC Bank Announces Scheduled Service Downtime for UPI and Net Banking on May 9-10

HDFC Bank has announced a scheduled maintenance period on May 9 and 10, 2025, which will temporarily disrupt several key banking services. This maintenance is part of routine infrastructure upgrades aimed at enhancing service efficiency and reliability. Customers can expect interruptions in UPI transactions, net banking, debit and credit card usage, as well as loan and demat services during this time.

Details of the Maintenance Schedule

On May 9, HDFC Bank will limit access to card-based services. Specifically, debit card transactions will be unavailable from 12:30 AM to 2:30 AM IST, impacting both online and offline transactions. Additionally, e-commerce transactions using HDFC Bank debit or credit cards will not be processed between 12:30 AM and 2:00 AM IST. Customers are advised to refrain from making online purchases during this 90-minute window. Furthermore, credit card services will also experience downtime from 1:00 AM to 4:00 AM IST, during which customers will be unable to perform transactions or access their monthly statements.

Impact on Net Banking and Mobile App Services

The following day, May 10, will see a more extensive maintenance schedule affecting net banking and mobile app services. From 2:30 AM to 5:30 AM IST, users will not be able to access their account information, make payments, or initiate fund transfers. This downtime includes critical payment methods such as Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Immediate Payment Service (IMPS), National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT), and Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS). Additionally, merchant payments and instant account openings will also be unavailable during this period.

Loan and Demat Services Suspension

On May 10, HDFC Bank will also temporarily suspend loan and demat services. Loan-related transactions will be unavailable from 4:30 AM to 6:30 AM IST, while demat account activities, including trading and associated services, will be inaccessible between 5:00 AM and 7:00 AM IST. Credit card services will face another disruption during this time, specifically from 5:00 AM to 7:00 AM IST, which may affect users’ ability to conduct transactions or access card-related features.

Advice for Customers

One of the most significant updates is a four-hour downtime for UPI services on May 10, from 2:30 AM to 6:30 AM IST. This upgrade will affect all UPI services linked to HDFC savings and current accounts, RuPay credit cards, and third-party UPI apps. HDFC Bank has urged customers to complete any critical transactions before these maintenance windows to avoid disruptions. The bank emphasizes that this maintenance is essential for improving service efficiency and user experience across its digital platforms. Customers are encouraged to stay informed through official communications from HDFC Bank and plan their banking activities accordingly during these service downtimes.
