GTA 5 Free PC Upgrade Details
Rockstar Games has exciting news for Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) fans. Next month, players on PC will receive a free upgrade that introduces a range of technical enhancements and features previously exclusive to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions. This upgrade will enhance the graphical quality of the game and introduce new content for GTA Online. Additionally, PC players will gain access to the GTA+ membership program. The upgrade is set to launch on March 4 for all players who own GTA 5 on PC.
GTA 5 Free Upgrade on PC
In a recent blog post, Rockstar Games outlined the details of the upcoming PC upgrade. One of the most significant additions is the introduction of ray tracing features tailored for PC. Players can expect improved ambient occlusion and global illumination, enhancing the game’s visual fidelity. Furthermore, the upgrade will include support for ray-traced shadows and reflections, which were previously available only on current-generation consoles. Players who choose to upgrade will also have the ability to transfer their progress from both Story Mode and GTA Online. This means that players can continue their adventures without losing any hard-earned achievements. The upgrade will also implement AI upscaling techniques, including AMD’s FSR1 and FSR3, as well as NVIDIA’s DLSS 3. These technologies will improve performance and visual quality, making the game more enjoyable.
Additional technical enhancements will include faster load times, thanks to SSD and DirectStorage support. Players can also expect better support for higher resolutions, aspect ratios, and framerates. The upgrade will introduce DualSense controller support, allowing players to experience adaptive triggers. Enhanced audio features will also be part of the upgrade, including Dolby Atmos support and improved audio fidelity for speech, cinematics, and music. To enjoy these enhancements, Rockstar recommends that players have a minimum of 8GB of RAM, an Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD FX-9590 processor, and a graphics card such as the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1630 or AMD Radeon RX 6400 with 4GB of VRAM.
GTA Online Features
The free upgrade will also bring a host of new features to GTA Online, many of which were previously exclusive to console players. Among these new features are additional vehicles and vehicle upgrades available at Hao’s Special Works. Players can also look forward to ambient animal encounters scattered throughout Southern San Andreas, adding a new layer of immersion to the game. Another exciting addition is the Career Progress feature, which will help players track their achievements and progress in GTA Online. The landing page for GTA Online will also receive a refresh, making it easier for players to navigate the game. Newer players will benefit from an improved introductory cash reward of GTA$4,000,000, providing a significant boost to their in-game finances.
Moreover, the upgrade will enhance player experience with improved security measures. Kernel-based anti-cheat protections and proactive voice chat moderation will be implemented to create a safer online environment. Additionally, the GTA+ membership will now be available for PC players. This membership offers various benefits, including a monthly cash reward of GTA$500,000, exclusive Shark Cards with a 15 percent bonus, and access to a selection of classic Rockstar Games titles in the GTA+ Games Library.
Rockstar has assured players that support for the previous version of GTA 5 on PC will continue. This means that players with hardware that does not meet the new upgrade’s minimum requirements can still enjoy the game. However, it is important to note that players on the older version will not be able to join online sessions with those who have upgraded.
