Goa to Host 10th Ayurveda Day on 23rd September 2025

The 10th Ayurveda Day is set to take place on September 23, 2025, at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Goa, marking a significant step in promoting traditional Indian medicine globally. This announcement was made by Union Minister of State for Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, during a conference in Mount Abu, Rajasthan. For the first time, Ayurveda Day will be celebrated on a fixed date, moving away from the previous practice of aligning it with Dhanvantari Jayanti. The event aims to highlight Ayurveda’s relevance in modern healthcare while showcasing Goa as a global wellness hub.

A Fixed Date for Ayurveda Day

In a notable shift, Ayurveda Day will now be celebrated annually on September 23. This change signifies a departure from the previous tradition of linking the celebration to Dhanvantari Jayanti. The decision to establish a fixed date aims to enhance the visibility and recognition of Ayurveda on a global scale. The main event will be hosted at the All India Institute of Ayurveda in Goa, which has been recognized for its commitment to promoting wellness and traditional medicine. This new approach is expected to attract more international attention and participation, solidifying Ayurveda’s place in the global healthcare landscape.

Goa: The Ideal Venue

Shri Prataprao Jadhav emphasized that Goa serves as an ideal backdrop for Ayurveda Day due to its international appeal and deep-rooted wellness culture. He stated that the state’s unique environment will amplify the theme for 2025, “Ayurveda for People & Planet.” This theme reflects the Indian government’s vision of promoting Ayurveda as a sustainable healthcare solution that addresses both human health and environmental concerns. By choosing Goa, the event aims to leverage the state’s global outlook to promote Ayurveda as a viable alternative to modern healthcare challenges.

Global Outreach and Participation

The Ministry of Ayush plans to organize nationwide events across all states and union territories, alongside a robust global outreach strategy. This includes collaboration with Indian missions abroad, international universities, wellness organizations, and diaspora networks. Building on the success of last year’s participation, which saw involvement from over 150 countries, Ayurveda Day 2025 aims to reach an even broader international audience. This initiative reaffirms India’s leadership in traditional and holistic health systems, showcasing Ayurveda as a credible and evidence-based healthcare option for the modern world.

Aligning with Diplomatic and Cultural Goals

The celebration of Ayurveda Day also aligns with India’s broader diplomatic and cultural outreach efforts. By positioning Ayurveda as not just a traditional Indian science but also a vital, evidence-based healthcare system, the event aims to highlight its relevance in contemporary society. The focus on sustainability and holistic health underscores the importance of integrating traditional practices into modern healthcare frameworks. This strategic approach aims to elevate Ayurveda’s status globally, promoting it as a solution that benefits both people and the planet.
