Gandhinagar Sets Guinness Record with 3.61 Lakh Tree Saplings

In a remarkable display of environmental dedication, Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, alongside over 25,000 volunteers, for setting a Guinness World Record by planting more than 3.61 lakh saplings within just one hour using the innovative Miyawaki method. This achievement highlights a strong community spirit and commitment to nature conservation in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency.

Environmental Movement Gains Momentum

Shah attributed this accomplishment to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that environmental conservation has evolved into a nationwide movement. The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative has successfully rallied millions of citizens around the cause of safeguarding the environment, making the Gandhinagar constituency a beacon of inspiration in this crucial battle.

A Historic Milestone

Highlighting the magnitude of the campaign, the Minister noted that the people of Gandhinagar had planted over 1.26 crore saplings under the Public Plantation Campaign. This impressive figure included 11,593,513 saplings planted across 404 public sites and more than 11 lakh saplings in private properties. Noteworthy locations included 53,64,504 saplings in Sanand, 18,09,850 in Gandhinagar North, and 16,64,675 in Kalol, among others.

Pioneering Public Participation

Shah praised the meticulous planning and community involvement that made this achievement possible. He expressed his admiration for the coordinated efforts of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and the various voluntary organizations that played a pivotal role in this event. This campaign serves as an exemplary model of public participation in environmental conservation.

Vision for a Sustainable Future

Emphasizing the importance of sustained action, Shah reiterated that planting trees is just the beginning. The protection and nurturing of these saplings are equally crucial for long-term success. He urged all citizens to engage in Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam‘ campaign, to plant more trees, and to commit to the ongoing care of their plants.

Shah expressed optimism that such community-driven initiatives would significantly contribute to building a developed India while ensuring a cleaner, greener, and balanced ecological environment for future generations.
