OV Digital Desk

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) implemented an umbrella program – Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) – from 2017-18 across the country including Jharkhand State. PMKSY is a complete package of component schemes, aimed at creating a modern infrastructure with efficient management of the supply chain, from the farm to the point of sale. The PMKSY is a demand-driven scheme and, therefore, state-level awards are not made under the scheme. Under the following component schemes of the PMKSY, financial support is provided in the form of grants for the establishment of food processing projects throughout the country:

  1. Mega Food Parks Program (MFP) (Discontinued wef 04.01.2021)
  2. Integrated infrastructure for the cold chain and added value (cold chain)
  3. Creation of Infrastructure for Cluster Agro Processing (APC)
  4. Creation/Expansion of Food Processing and Preservation Capacities (CEFPPC)
  5. Creating Backward and Forward Links (CBFL) (discontinued as of 04.01.2021)
  6. Operation Verdi (OG): Long Term Interventions
  7. Infrastructure for Food Safety and Quality Assurance – Creation/upgrading of Food Quality Control/Analysis Laboratories (FTL)
  8. Human Resources and Institutions (HRI)
  1. Research and development
  2. Skills development (discontinued as of 01.04.2021)

In the past five years, the Ministry has received only two (02) proposals under the CEFPPC scheme from Jharkhand, however they were not deemed suitable as per the guidelines of the scheme.

This information was given by the Union State Minister for the Ministry of Food Processing Industries Shri Prahlad Singh Patel in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha today.
