Flipkart Partners with NCVET to Boost Vocational Training in India
The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) is collaborating with Flipkart to enhance vocational education and skilling opportunities across India. This partnership aims to introduce nationally recognized, industry-led training pathways designed for the burgeoning e-commerce and logistics sectors, in line with the Skill India Mission.
The agreement was formalized at an event held at Kaushal Bhawan in New Delhi. Senior officials from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and NCVET were present, including Ms. Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary of MSDE and Chairperson of NCVET, along with other dignitaries from Flipkart and NCVET.
NCVET, established under the MSDE, plays an essential role in overseeing and ensuring quality in India’s vocational education and training system. The council’s focus is on creating nationally benchmarked standards that enhance workforce employability and drive economic growth.
Through this partnership, NCVET will assist Flipkart in becoming a recognized Awarding Body, which will allow it to develop training, assessment, and certification programs that meet industry needs. This recognition will support the creation of programs that are portable and formally acknowledged nationwide, ensuring they adhere to the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).
Ms. Debashree Mukherjee highlighted the significant impact of this collaboration, stating, “NCVET’s partnership with Flipkart reinforces our ongoing effort to make India’s skilling architecture more industry-responsive, credible, and outcomes-driven. By aligning training and certification closely with real operational needs, we are strengthening pathways for quality jobs and long-term career growth.”
Flipkart’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Shri Rajneesh Kumar, emphasized the company’s commitment to skilling as a fundamental aspect of building India’s digital commerce infrastructure. He remarked, “As one of the country’s largest employers in the e-commerce and logistics ecosystem, we see it as our responsibility to create standardized, nationally recognized skilling pathways that are industry-led and outcome-oriented.”
This initiative promises to provide trainees with a structured program delivery, rigorous assessments, and credible certifications that are recognized both nationally and internationally. Additionally, these certifications will be securely stored on DigiLocker, allowing for the accumulation of academic credits verified through the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), thus enhancing career mobility and long-term employability.
Overall, this collaboration aims to fill vital skill gaps within the e-commerce supply chain, fostering a ready workforce equipped to meet the needs of India’s ever-evolving digital economy, and contributing to the overall vision of a competitive, future-ready nation.
