Fit India Sundays on Cycle Aims to Inspire Young Voters

The 58th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle is set to take place on January 25, showcasing the initiative’s evolution from a simple fitness program to a nationwide movement that transcends community, institutional, and regional boundaries. This week’s edition will feature Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, who will lead a cycling event with citizens in Karaikal, Puducherry, emphasizing the government’s ongoing commitment to fitness and healthy lifestyles.

Promoting Young Voter Engagement

This year’s National Voters’ Day celebrations draw inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s passionate call to the youth, urging them to champion awareness and participation in the democratic process. Reflecting on the passage of time since he first took office, Modi noted the youthful presence today, stating, “Your capability, your talent, I have always drawn energy from your energy.” He encouraged young people to take charge in achieving the vision of a developed India.

A Nationwide Celebration

The celebrations will highlight the theme ‘Young Voters of Viksit Bharat’ under the campaign #MYBharatMYVote. The Fit India Sundays on Cycle initiative serves as a platform where fitness and civic responsibility converge, engaging youths across the country. Subsequently, the focus will shift from the southern coast to Attari near Amritsar, where a festive gathering will occur in conjunction with National Voters’ Day and on the eve of Republic Day.

Uniting Through Fitness and Democracy

At Amritsar, the event will bring together the Central Armed Police Forces, young voters, and featured guests such as Hon’ble MoS for Youth Affairs & Sports, Smt. Nikhil Khadse, Olympian boxer Nikhat Zareen, cricketer Siddharth Kaul, and actors Ragini Dwivedi and Vivek Dahiya. Their participation underlines the message that fitness and a vibrant democracy are closely linked.

These prominent figures will amplify the #MYBharatMYVote message, inspiring young citizens to recognize their voting rights alongside committing to a healthy lifestyle. Active social media campaigns featuring Fit India Ambassadors are already igniting enthusiasm for the initiative among citizens.

Encouraging Participation

Dr. Mandaviya stated, “A strong democracy depends on healthy and aware citizens.” By aligning Sundays on Cycle with National Voters’ Day and the #MYBharatMYVote campaign, the goal is to inspire young Indians to adopt fitness as a lifestyle while embracing their responsibility in shaping the nation’s future. Notably, this edition will also make its debut at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, showcasing the initiative’s reach into educational institutions.

Strengthening the Movement

Launched in December 2024, Sundays on Cycle has attracted participation from over 25 lakh citizens across more than two lakh locations nationwide, uniting people from varied backgrounds in a shared commitment to fitness. With the ongoing aim to promote cycling as a sustainable activity, this program has become a vital part of the Fit India Movement initiated by Prime Minister Modi to integrate physical fitness into daily life.
