Financial assistance upto Rs. 5.00 Lakh for outstanding sportspersons living in indigent circumstances provided under Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay National Welfare Fund : Shri Anurag Thakur
The Ministry of Sports and Youth implements the scheme of ‘Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay National Welfare Fund for Sportspersons’ (PDUNWFS) with the objectives of providing adequate assistance to outstanding sportsmen who are now living in destitute circumstances, providing adequate assistance to exceptional sportsmen and women injured during the period of their training for competitions and also during competitions, depending on the nature of the injury, to provide adequate assistance to sportsmen for medical treatment, to provide adequate assistance to promote the well-being of sportsmen in general in order to alleviate the discomfort between them and their dependents in conditions of poverty and to provide assistance to sportsmen living in conditions of poverty for training, procurement of sports equipment, participation in national and international sporting events, etc.
Information on the number of sports and state sports supported by this fund over the past five years is available on the Department’s website https://yas.nic.in. Financial assistance up to Rs. 5.00 Lakhs for outstanding sportsmen living in destitute circumstances and up to Rs. 10.00 Lakh for medical treatment to sportsmen or family members are provided under the scheme of PDUNWFS.
