The Indian Air Force contingent participating in Exercise Pitch Black 22 in Australia has returned after successful participation in the multinational exercise.
The Royal Australian Air Force hosted Exercise Pitch Black 22 at its Darwin Air Base. During the three-week exercise, 17 Air Forces and over 2500 military personnel participated. The IAF contingent consisted of four Su-30 MKIs and two C-17s. Various multi-aircraft combat drills were conducted by the participating forces both by day and at night, simulating complex aerial scenarios involving large formations.
As a result of the exercise, the air forces were able to share best practices and experiences. This event was marked by a collaborative spirit which led to a better understanding of each other’s capabilities and a sense of camaraderie that will lead to long-lasting relationships between the participating nations.
